Etsy Listing Optimizer: Get Found and Stay Listed

One scan gives you a search score, a rewritten title, 13 tags and description, and a trademark and policy check with the USPTO record where there is one.

The problem

Most listing tools tell you how to rank and stop there. Most trademark checks tell you what's wrong and stop there. So you fix the title for search, and the new title brings a brand name back in; or you take the brand name out, and the listing gets harder to find. You end up going back and forth between two tools for every listing.

Etsy listing optimizer result: search score from E to B after the rewrite, a trademarked character name removed, and a new title, description and 13 tags

Example scan: the rewrite takes out the trademarked word and lifts the search score in the same run.

What one scan gives you

A search score, before and after.

A grade from A to E for how the listing reads to Etsy search, and the score your rewrite would get, side by side.

A rewritten title, 13 tags and description.

Every scan gives you a full set of 13 tags you can paste, even when the listing had none. Copy one field or all of them.

A trademark and policy check.

Every flagged word, the reason, and the USPTO record where the register has one: holder, registration number, status and a link to the official file.

Why each change was made.

The rewrite is grouped by what it fixes: a compliance problem, a missing detail buyers look for, or a search check.

What the search score checks

The search score isn't an AI opinion. It's 15 fixed checks that add up to 100, so the same listing gets the same score every time, and you can see where each point went.

  • Title, 5 checks: the main keyword near the front, under 15 words, no word repeated over and over, no ALL-CAPS or symbol runs, and words spelled the way buyers type them.
  • Tags, 6 checks: all 13 slots used, each tag within 20 characters, multi-word phrases rather than single words, no keyword repeated, no tag sitting inside another, and words the title doesn't already have.
  • Description, 2 checks: real content, and the title's main words within the first 160 characters.
  • Title and tags together, 2 checks: they share their main words, and there's an occasion or audience word, such as a gift, a holiday or "for her".

85 and up is an A, 70 a B, 55 a C, 40 a D, and anything lower is an E. The after score runs the same checks on the rewritten version, so the two numbers are measured the same way.

Optimize for search without adding a trademark

The rewrite starts by taking out what was flagged, so the new title doesn't put a brand name back in. In one example, "Grinch Christmas Ugly Sweater Ornament" came back as "Festive Holiday Ugly Sweater Ornament", and its search score went from E to B in the same scan. Etsy's own title guidance asks for shorter titles that say what the item is, with the rest moved into tags, which is why every scan fills all 13.

How it works

  1. Paste a listing, import the CSV from Etsy Shop Manager, or connect your Etsy shop.
  2. Scan. Each listing costs 1 credit, photos included (up to 10).
  3. Copy the fields you want. If your shop is connected and write-back is on, press Sync to send the rewrite to that listing on Etsy, and Undo it any time within 24 hours.

Nothing changes on Etsy until you say so

Connecting your shop is read-only. Write-back stays off until you switch it on and approve it on Etsy, and even then a listing only changes when you press Sync, or after a scheduled scan if you turn on automatic write-back. We can never deactivate or publish anything in your shop.

Also on Etsy, in the extension

Open any of your listings on Etsy and switch to the Optimize tab in the ListingSafe extension for Chrome or Edge: the same scan, without leaving the page. The extension also shows the tags on any listing.

What it does, and what it doesn't

Listing Optimizer
Scores the listing for Etsy search, before and after Yes, 15 checks out of 100
Rewrites the title, 13 tags and description Yes. Copy one field or all of them
Flags trademarked words Yes, with the USPTO record where the register has one
Checks the photos Yes, up to 10 per listing in the same credit
Changes your listing on Etsy Only when you press Sync, with Undo for 24 hours
Shows search volume or your rank No. Etsy doesn't give outside tools either number
Promises more views or sales No. The score measures how the listing is set up, not what Etsy does with it

FAQ

What does an Etsy listing optimizer do?

It reads a listing's title, tags and description, scores how well it's set up for Etsy search, and gives you a rewritten version. ListingSafe's also checks every word for trademark and Etsy policy problems before handing you the rewrite.

Is it free?

The Free plan includes 20 credits a month and each listing costs 1, so you can optimize 20 listings a month for free. No card needed.

Does it check trademarks?

Yes, on every plan. Flagged words come with the reason, and with the USPTO record when the word is a registered trademark. The rewrite leaves flagged words out.

Will it change my listing on Etsy?

Not unless you press Sync. Without a connected shop you copy the text yourself; with one, write-back is off until you turn it on, and you can Undo within 24 hours.

How is this different from an Etsy SEO tool?

An SEO tool helps a listing get found. This does that and checks whether the listing could be removed, in the same scan, so fixing one doesn't break the other. For a side-by-side with eRank, see the eRank alternative comparison.

Can I optimize my whole shop?

Yes. Import your Etsy CSV or connect your shop and scan every listing in one go, as far as your monthly credits go.

Does a higher score mean more sales?

Nobody can promise that, and we don't. The score measures how well the title, tags and description are set up for search. Which listings Etsy shows first also depends on who is searching, and that isn't part of the listing.

Are my photos checked too?

Yes. Up to 10 photos per listing are included in the same credit, and they're checked for well-known characters and brands the design may resemble. Anything found is flagged for you to review.
